Nursing Assistant II (Per Diem) needed for 5 West


5 West is a 15-bed unit dedicated to caring for patients with a burn injury and/or other complex wounds.  Burn patients on this unit typically have <20% burn injury and are acute care in status.  Other patients cared for on this unit include, but are not limited to: plastic surgery patients, diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers and overflow from other acute care surgery and medicine areas.

 

The Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect care in hospital setting and all worked performed is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Duties include but are not limited to, bathing, dressing, vital signs, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients who require assistance, ambulating patients, turning/repositions patients, changing linens, running errands, directing visitors, charting, and answering the telephone and callbells. 

This position is per diem/at will and requires the ability the work a minimum of 12 hours every two weeks and one summer and one winter holiday; rotating 12hr shifts (7am-7:30pm and 7pm-7:30am) and weekend rotation.  Flexible self-scheduling is based on needs of staff and unit.  There are no benefits associated with this position.  This position also requires the ability to attend a one week orientation, Monday through Thursday (7:30-5:00pm).

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Listed as Nursing Assistant II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Six (6) months related nursing assistant experience.
This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System.
