Nursing Assistant I for 8 Bedtower/Family Practice & General Medicine Unit

 

Our 31 bed unit provides care for family & general medicine with a heavy focus on geriatric nursing care. As part of our commitment to the geriatric population, we host a series of events every year for Older Americans' Month.

 

Unit Strengths: 8 Bedtower utilizes a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach in a patient and family centered care environment.  We also work closely with the Palliative Care Team.  We provide a supportive work atmosphere with nurses committed to excellent health care and collegial interactions.  In addition, we also enjoy a top tier employee satisfaction rating!

 

The Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect care and all worked performed is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician. Duties include but are not limited to, bathing, dressing, vital signs, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients who require assistance, ambulating patients, turning/repositions patients, changing linens, running errands, directing visitors, charting, and answering the telephone and callbells.

 

This is a 36 hours/week position for Day and Night rotating shifts (7am-7pm, 7pm-7am) with weekend rotation.  Self-scheduling is used to meet the needs of the staff and the unit.  This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package. Must be able to complete a week long hospital orientation, Monday through Friday (7:30am-5:00pm).

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED. Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course.
This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System.
