Location: Medical Center, Chapel Hill
Day Shift, 40hrs week, 8:30am-5:00pm
Successful candidate will provide face-to- face, over the phone, video interpretation and translation services for Spanish speaking patients/families and UNC staff members throughout the medical facilities. Eligible candidates must demonstrate high levels of fluency in Spanish and English and demonstrate proficiency with medical terminology and interpreting skills in both languages and be able to translate things like written discharge instructions into Spanish. Candidate must pass a written Spanish medical terminology assessment as well as a verbal interpreting skills assessment before completing the interview process. Also, candidate must have excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills and be willing to walk extensively on a day to day basis as well as be available to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
CHI or CMI certification is preferred.
*This position is designated as part of Shared Services and will be hired onto the NCHEALTH payroll and benefits.*
QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED. One (1) year of experience in a health care or human services setting.
