Supporting patient safety initiatives by maintaining an environment of safety for patients, self and others
-Assessing the patient's safety
needs and patient's condition, including biophysical, psychosocial and age
-Documenting the patient's status according to the unit specific procedure
prioritizing an individualized plan of care utilizing the nursing and
medical diagnosis, collaborating with other health care team members in
formulating this plan and implementing this plan of care on the assigned
-Evaluating the patient's status, nursing instructions, appropriateness of the nursing plan of care and outcomes of the care provided
-Initiating a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient as prescribed by the Physician and/or hospital procedure, including patient and family instruction as well as discharge planning
-Participating in performance
and quality improvement activities
-Recognizing, supporting and utilizing evidence based nursing practices
-Adhering to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics
Other duties may be assigned.
Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. One (1) year of nursing experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
