|Abdominal Transplant/Urology/Plastic Surgery Acute Care Unit|
We are a 15-bed unit dedicated to caring for patients who require abdominal
organ transplantation, urology and plastic surgery patients. Our patient care
team delivers highly specialized cutting-edge care. Each year, we perform over
125 kidney, pancreas, and liver transplants. Our transplant program is certified
by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons and is one of the most
accomplished and dedicated transplant teams in the region. We strive to
improve clinical outcomes through an interprofessional approach of education,
research, and clinical medicine.
We are the inpatient home for the nationally ranked UNC Urology. We have
partnered with the physicians to deliver individualized care in a coordinated and
compassionate manner. Our expert specialists adhere to the most advanced
techniques and utilize the most recent technologies to provide the highest quality
and most efficient medical care for our patients.
In addition to urology and abdominal transplants, our staff cares for high-risk
plastic surgery patients requiring reconstructive grafts and surgery related to
tissue injuries. These patients have complex wound management needs,
which our expert staff manages.

professionally develop within the constantly evolving world of abdominal
transplant, urology and plastic surgery.
This unit has also received the Beacon Award for Excellence designated
by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The AACN
created the Beacon designation to recognize individual units that have set a
path to excellence in an effort to highlight critical care units that distinguish
themselves in every facet of patient care. Recipients of a Beacon designation
demonstrate excellence in sustained unit performance and patient outcomes.
This position is for 36 hours/week rotating shifts but the need is primarily
nights. This position qualifies for an extensive State benefit package.
Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. One (1) year of nursing experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, without a BSN or MSN, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
