This position is dedicated to providing pastoral care and to patients, family members and staff as well as serving as the bereavement coordinator for UNC Hospitals Main Campus. The position will include direct patient, family, and staff care working with the Adult Palliative Care consult service and other patients areas as assigned. The ministry includes: providing one-on-one pastoral care in the in-patient and potentially out-patient settings. As the bereavement coordinator there will be a focus on grief support, education, facilitating grief groups and other programing. The clinical chaplain will serve on department, and hospital wide committees, provide documentation for patient encounters, provide 24 hour back-up coverage in rotation with other pastoral care staff members, lead worship service in the hospital chapel as needed and requested throughout the year, teach didactics within the Department of Pastoral Care and in the hospital community, serve as a mentor to a CPE resident, complete administrative and other assigned task.
QualificationsMaster's degree in Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or university. Graduation from accredited college and seminary with four (4) units of ACPE CPE, faith group endorsement. Prior pastoral experience in hospital setting and/or congregation. Board eligible by the Association of Professional Chaplains. Certification must be obtained within two years of hire.
