New Graduate RN needed for the Surgical Oncology/ ENT Surgery Acute Care Unit. This is a 36 hours/week, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling and an extensive State benefit package.
Surgical Oncology /ENT Surgery Acute Care Unit is a 24 bed unit.
This unit cares for ENT and oncology patients with the primary patient population being those with intra-abdominal and head and neck malignancies. This includes the management of breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, endocrine cancer, melanoma and sarcoma. Blood transfusions, antibiotic therapy, wound care and end of life care are part of we do every day. We will provide you with the knowledge and training to provide quality surgical oncology and ENT care to these groups of patients. Our goal is to ensure that excellent care is provided to both the patient and family throughout hospitalization while promoting a relaxing environment.
This unit has also received the Beacon Award for Excellence. The AACN created the Beacon designation to recognize individual units that have set a path to excellence in an effort to highlight units that distinguish themselves in every facet of patient care. Recipients of a Beacon designation demonstrate excellence in sustained unit performance and patient outcomes.
This opportunity is for new graduate RN’s who are currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date (January to April 2021) and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that applicants will have their RN license and be able to practice in North Carolina prior to the first day of employment.
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. If hired after January 6, 2014, without a BSN or MSN, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina prior to the first day of orientation. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
