Job Description

Description

New Graduate RN needed for Neurosurgery / Neurology Acute Care Unit. This is a 36 hour/week position, day/night and weekend rotation, with flexible self-scheduling and is eligible for an extensive benefit package.

We are a team of positive, dynamic and talented neuro nurses providing exceptional nursing care to Neurosurgery and Neurology patients. We are a true medical-surgical unit treating patients who have spinal and brain surgeries, brain tumors, stroke, seizures, and neuromuscular diagnoses such as Myasthenia Gravis, Guillain Barre Syndrome, and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy. Our Team of nurses, physicians and therapists set the standards for highly collaborative care in order to become the first Comprehensive Stroke Center in the Southeast as designated by the Joint Commission in 2012. Our physician teams are nationally recognized as innovators in neuro care, receiving patients throughout North Carolina and surrounding states. Our unit has 32 beds available to serve the varying needs of our patient population including a 7 bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. We are focused on providing highly collaborative, patient centered care which ensures great outcomes.

Strengths:
Our biggest strength is our willingness to see the patient’s potential in all of our actions and interactions. We empower and enable our patient to truly progress to the fullest of their capability. Our outstanding team enjoys the fast pace and exciting opportunities provided by our patients, and we constantly strive to improve and advance neuro nursing. This allows us to support professional growth and exceptional education opportunities for our nurses.

This opportunity is for new graduate RN’s who are currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated from nursing school within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date (January-April 2021) and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months.  It is expected that applicants will have taken the NCLEX exam and have a nursing (RN) license which allows you to practice in North Carolina prior to the first day of orientation.

New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
