New Graduate RN needed for Pulmonary/Infectious Disease Acute Care Unit (6 Bedtower)

This opportunity is for new graduate RNs who are currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that candidates will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their first day of employment.
This position is 36 hours per week with day/night and weekend rotation. Self-scheduling to meet the individual and department needs.
6 Bedtower is a 31-bed medicine floor that provides quality acute care for patients with pulmonary and infectious diseases. The unit is equipped with dual channel telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry and cares for patients who are HIV positive, those who have respiratory diseases, and adults with cystic fibrosis.
6 Bed Tower holds the Silver-level designation Beacon Award for Excellence™ from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. This designation highlights patient care units that distinguish themselves in every facet of patient care. For patients and families, Beacon designation signifies exceptional care through improved outcomes and satisfaction. This position qualifies for a generous benefit package including PTO accrual up to 230 hours/year.
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, if hired after January 6, 2014 and obtain a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in nursing within seven years of employment date.
Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the Board of Nursing prior to start date. Current healthcare provider BLS/CPR certification required.
