New Graduate RN needed for Cardiovascular Acute Care Unit 5 Anderson
Target start date: January through April 2021
This opportunity is for new graduate RNs who are currently in their final semester of nursing school or who have graduated within the past 12 months of the anticipated start date and have worked as an RN for less than 6 months. It is expected that candidates will be eligible to practice as an RN in North Carolina prior to their first day of employment.
This position is 36 hours per week, day/night and weekend rotation, with self-scheduling to meet individual and department needs. This position qualifies for State Benefits.
5 Anderson is a dynamic and innovative 12 bed inpatient Cardiovascular Acute Care Unit within the Center for Heart & Vascular Care. 5 Anderson cares for both medical and surgical cardiovascular patients. The diagnostic and procedural focus for this patient population includes but is not limited to: arteriograms, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, shunt placement/revisions, bypass grafts, abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs, advanced wound therapies, limb amputations, pacemaker insertions, cardiac ablations for atrial arrhythmias, chest tubes, and thoracic surgeries.
Our health care teams are led by renowned physicians who are among the country’s leaders in cardiovascular care and who have pioneered national standards for endovascular aneurysm surgery.
5 Anderson provides patient and family centered care to patients with Cardiovascular and Thoracic diagnoses through interdisciplinary collaboration. Provision of care is accomplished through nursing and interprofessional support services, patient/family education, and discharge planning following the nursing process and the medical plan of treatment. It is with this interprofessional approach that we are able to ensure the highest level of physical, emotional, and spiritual recovery possible.

5 Anderson nurses provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse manager/Director, the clinical nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO hours accrued based on the number of hours hired.
New Graduate Nurses are part of the UNC Medical Center Residency Program (NRP). This program is a yearlong program supporting transition from academia to practice for new graduate nurses. The program is layered on top of orientation to provide mentored clinical relationships which support development as a professional nurse.
Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing, preferred. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, if hired after January 6, 2014 and obtain a baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in nursing within seven years of employment date.
Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina. Current healthcare provider BLS/CPR certification required.
