Nursing Assistant I needed for the Medicine Progressive Care Unit (MPCU)
The MPCU is a 24-bed intermediate care unit on the medicine service that has moved to a newly renovated location on 3 Bedtower. This unit receives a variety of medical patients who require intermediate level care. The MPCU has received the Gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence designated by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The AACN created the Beacon designation to recognize individual units that have set a path to excellence in an effort to highlight critical care units that distinguish themselves in every facet of patient care. Recipients of a Gold Beacon designation demonstrate excellence in sustained unit performance and patient outcomes.
The Nursing Assistant provides direct personal care to patients as outlined in the plan of care and duties include but are not limited to, bathing, dressing, vital signs, serving and collecting food trays, feeding patients who require assistance, ambulating patients, turning/repositions patients, changing linens, running errands, directing visitors, charting, and answering the telephone and callbells. All work performed is under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
36 hours/week: rotating days and nights (7am-7:30pm, 7pm-7:30am), with weekend rotation. This position qualifies for an extensive benefit package including PTO accruals. Must be able to commit to a week of hospital orientation, Monday through Friday (7:30am- 5:00pm)
QualificationsHigh School diploma or GED. Listed as Nursing Assistant I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification. Six (6) months of relevant nursing assistant experience, which may include a nursing assistant course.
