Description

The director is responsible for overseeing and directing the Medical Center department of Clinical Data Management. This position leads efforts to provide high quality clinical data for purposes of external reporting, national benchmarking, and collaborative learning. Scope of work includes measurement validity and data accuracy related to clinical registries and regulatory initiatives. The director oversees managers and staff within the department.
 
Description of Job Responsibilities:
  1. Develops continuous improvement strategies by translating business objectives into actionable projects. Communicates and exemplifies the company’s continuous improvement philosophy, vision and expectations. Looks for opportunities to maximize efficiency and reduce waste. Designs and leads projects to implement continuous improvement actions and achieve future state. Tracks and executes cost reduction on process improvements. Leads organizational efforts in staying current with all pay for reporting programs, government regulations and improvement initiatives.
  2. Leading Change - Leads people toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals. Ensures that departmental goals match those of the organization and that resources are allocated to meet priorities. Provides an inclusive workplace that fosters the professional development of others, and facilitates cooperation and teamwork.  Establishes an environment that creates incentives for, and eliminates barriers to, a team environment. Articulates common goals and communicates how individual roles contribute to team success.
  3. Leading People - Proactively assesses the need for change and obtains resources to implement change initiatives. Communicates effectively and appropriately. Delegates responsibility, clarifies expectations, and holds others accountable for achieving results related to their area of responsibility, including all performance standards and expectations. Provides ongoing feedback and support. Treats everyone in a manner that demonstrates fairness and consistency. Serves as a role model by demonstrating commitment to innovation and continuous improvement in organizational performance.
  4. Results Driven - Exceeds departmental and organizational goals and customer expectations. Makes decisions that produce high-quality results by applying knowledge, analyzing problems, and calculating risks. Understands the overall financial performance of the organization and applies financial concepts and practices to establish and maintain realistic budgets. Uses financial information to monitor overall financial status of operations.
  5. Specific areas of responsibility include CMS reporting, inpatient and outpatient quality and interoperability; maintenance of the registry dashboard as part of the quality data portfolio; chart abstraction for all CMS requirements, clinical registries, and accreditation; and management of surveys for accreditation and hospital rating purposes.  

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.


Licensure/Certification Requirements:

No licensure or certification required.


Professional Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of management experience in related field.
