The University of North Carolina Health Care System in Chapel Hill, N.C. is recruiting for an Apheresis Nurse Manager in the Transfusion Medicine Service. The primary purpose of this position is to direct, monitor and manage the delivery of patient care by the Apheresis unit.  This person is to be both a resource to staff by providing technical expertise in therapeutic and donor apheresis and a liaison between Apheresis and the referring physicians.  The nurse manager is responsible for the training, education and competency programs in the unit, managing staff and patient scheduling, providing input into the budget process, ensuring regulatory compliance and coordinating research with various clinicians.   

The Apheresis unit performs approximately 1200 therapeutic plasma exchanges, 240 red blood cell exchanges and 250 peripheral blood stem cell collections annually.  Other procedures performed include leukapheresis, LDL apheresis for familial hypercholesterolemia and various research studies.

 

 

 

Qualifications

Graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing. One (1) year of nursing experience. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.

 

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
