GENERAL PURPOSE:

This position is with the Population Health Solutions team within the UNC Health Alliance.  Under the direction of the Population Heath Solutions Program Manager, the Operational Project Manager will support the development, implementation and spread of [email protected] population health tools for key system and value-based care initiatives. They will support the expansion of our suite of population health tools by partnering with HCS stakeholders and the ISD Healthy Planet team to design, build, deploy and optimize EMR-based solutions. 

The Project Manager is member of a multidisciplinary, cross-departmental team (UNC Health Alliance and ISD Healthy Planet) team. The Project Manager supports Population Health Solutions Coaches, PQI Quality Coaches, PQI Clinical Services Implementation Coaches and others in the Health Care System and Health Alliance as a Population Health Content Expert. The project manager must be able to work with many different roles across the Health Care System, support multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Experience with Epic is required. Experience with EMR design, health care reporting/analytics, clinical quality measurement and those with a clinical background are strongly preferred.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Project Management:

Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of system-wide projects ensuring consistency with Population Health Solutions and UNC Health Alliance strategy, commitments and goals. Develops charters, project plans, goals, schedules and methods for measuring results while maintaining optimum working relationships with all UNC Health Care System stakeholders. Identifies, troubleshoots and communicates project barriers and risks. Requires tracking and monitoring the status of multiple projects at one time.

Technical Development:    

Work with project stakeholders and clinical subject matter experts to understand clinical and workflow requirements and translate into build specifications for ISD Analysts. Work with ISD Analysts and Population Health Solutions Coaches during the Agile development process to oversee and sign-off on completed build.  Guide prioritization of work in Agile sprints based on project schedules. Develop stories and coordinate optimization work.

Team leadership and Facilitation:

Partner with multiple groups/clinical stakeholders to support system-level projects and improvement work. Facilitate meetings, organize and lead stakeholders in the development of project goals, deliverables and schedules.  Coordinates and leads on-going meetings with other groups within our department.         

Promote spread of Population Health Tools across HCS:    

Partner with other PQI coaches (Quality & Clinical Implementation), HCS and Alliance stakeholders, ISD training and Population Health Solutions coaches to coordinate and support the deployment and spread of [email protected] population health tools in the clinical setting. Coordinate pilot releases with Population Health Solutions Coaches when needed.

Process Improvement:

Work with other team members to identify and analyze opportunities for process and quality improvement. Support the development of processes to ensure standardization. Promotes accuracy and efficiency in team's work and looks for ways to increase effectiveness of team. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field: Five (5) years of professional experience in project management related experience
  • If Master's degree: Two (2) years of professional experience in project management related experience
  • EMR and/or Epic experience preferred
This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care. This is not a State employed position.
