This is a 36 hour a week position, rotating shifts, flexible scheduling to meet the clinical needs of the unit.
This is a 22-bed unit dedicated to the advancement of patient and family-care, education and research in the field of gynecology and gynecology oncology. We care for the middle adult, adult and geriatric GYN/GYN Oncology and post partum patient. Four beds are available for Radiation Therapy. Our focus is to provide optimal care to persons with an actual and/or potential diagnosis of cancer. Strengths: The 6 Women’s staff utilizes a team approach to facilitate appropriate and effective care for our patients and families. Patient/families are encouraged to participate in their health care to maximize patient self-care skills and promote healthy lifestyles.
The sixth floor of the
NC Women's Hospital provides acute inpatient services for surgical patients and
oncology care including chemotherapy administration and inpatient radiation
therapy. Unit overflow includes care of post-partum and medicine patients.
The RN works in a collaborative environment with members of the
interdisciplinary team to advance patient and family care. After
established entry level competency, the RN is eligible to obtain a
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy provider card through the Oncology Nursing Society
Requires graduation from a state accredited school of professional nursing, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, preferred. If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled in an accredited program within four years of employment, and obtain a Baccalaureate degree with a major in Nursing or a Master’s degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
One year of nursing experience is required. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the clinical area is preferred. Current certification as a Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR is required.
