Job Summary: Coordinates communication activities to enhance the experiences of co-workers, volunteers, physicians, patients and other stakeholders at UNC Health System.


Special Skills:

Strong writing experience for a variety of audiences. Experience with graphics, design and photography on collateral production is a plus, with video production and editing skills also helpful. Strong teamwork, oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with others and to speak in public, listen effectively, interview and gather information from sources at all levels in the system, and work with varying levels of staff. Able to work well under pressure and to manage multiple projects at once.


Job Standards:

Essential duties and responsibilities are as follows. Other duties may be assigned. 


  • Maintains an environment of safety for patients, self, and others.
  • Coordinates annual internal communication plans that incorporate all audiences (co-workers, volunteers, physicians, patients/guests) across UNC Medical Center.
  • Works closely with Internal Communications team to develop internal communications for mass communications channels and leadership forums.
  • Develops e-newsletter integrating content and videos featuring staff, physicians and executives into internal messages to promote a positive culture.
  • Provide internal communication for special projects as needed.
  • Supports production of specialized content for internal audiences. Responsibilities include developing story ideas, interviewing appropriate parties, researching, writing and editing articles, managing production/distribution and providing photography services as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. Two (2) years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related program.
This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care. This is not a State employed position.
