Hospital Patient Financial Services Supervisor/Cash Management and Self-Pay Credits
This position has oversight for Cash Posting and Self-Pay Credits for hospital accounts.
The Supervisor of Cash Management and Self-Pay Credits will be responsible for staff oversight and daily operational processes related to incoming cash receipts and credit balance review.
Cash Management: The role is responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness for the capture, posting, and reconciliation of incoming cash receipts from patients and third party payers. These payments may be received electronically or manually. Knowledge of banking relations, lockboxes, overall cash posting processes and electronic posting files highly desired. Extensive work with commercial and governmental payer offsets will be beneficial to this role.
Self-Pay Credits: The role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate review of self-pay credit balances. Understanding insurance remit processing and critical eye for detail are required for this role.
These activities are for all Shared Service entities within UNC Health Care System, including UNC Hospitals (acute, rehab, psych) which is an academic facility, UNC Rex (community based hospital), UNC Caldwell (community based hospital), and UNC Chatham (critical access hospital).
Additionally, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring processes are conducted efficiently and in a high quality manner to meet financial goals and adhere to compliant billing and collection regulations.
● Requires Associate's degree in Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or Hospital Administration.
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Two years of progressively responsible experience in medical billing operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years experience in Insurance Processing, Claim Edits and/or Denial Management preferred, with at least two years experience in a Coordinator, Supervisor or Management role required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
● Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, governmental regulations, etc. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or users, managers, external customers, etc.
REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
