Summary:
The Andrology Coordinator assists the Andrology team with day-to-day operational tasks of the lab.  Preps samples, creates and maintains training documents and lab checklists, and communicates issues between the team and other units with the UNC Fertility department.


Responsibilities:
Preps for semen analysis, IUI’s, Cryos and IVF.  Coordinates and ships samples in and out of the lab.  Discards samples as needed and following procedures.
Serves as communication liaison for the Andrology team.  Communicates with the lab manager daily on patient issues such as personnel issues, intradepartmental issues, and daily checklists.  Communicates with other clinical departments at UNC Fertility on issues such as delayed results.  Communicates with front desk on scheduling
issues.

Coordinates day-to-day tasks for the Andrology team.  Works through issues with blood samples,
Roche equipment, and test results.  Takes
the lead on resolving patient issues that may arise.

Drafts and organizes all training documents with the assistance of the Senior Andrologist and with the approval of the Lab Manager.  Organizes and maintains all QC/QA/QI materials.  Ensures quality control logs are completed every day.  Ensures all quality assurance items are updates.  Develops checklists to help organize the lab.
Enters all CAP PT testing and ensures it is completed and submitted accurately and in a timely fashion.
Ensures proper sample collection, delivery, and identification.  Performs safe handling of specimens by following safety guidelines.  Performs daily/monthly quality control procedures for media and equipment used in the andrology laboratory.  Documents quality assurance activities including assessment of problems and appropriate corrective actions.  Performs andrology proficiency testing.
Assists with sperm shipping, sperm discards, and IVF lists as necessary.  Goes through IVF lists to ensure all patients have sperm on site, frozen BU’s are completed, and determines whether test thaws are acceptable or not.
Sets up, calibrates, and cleans lab equipment.  Ensures routine maintenance and repairs are performed and documented.  Responsible for troubleshooting issues with Rouche equipment that may arise.
Processes requisitions, test reports, and test records in a timely manner.  Maintains lab records, reports, and files.  Performs various office functions.  Orders and stocks lab supplies on an ongoing basis.
Communicates with Practice personnel, medical staff, patients, and outside resources to ensure high quality patient care and customer service orientation.  Prepares periodic reports and documents for supervisors. Oversees the ordering of supplies for andrology and endrocrine, delegating tasks to the Andrologist to ensure lab is consistently stocked with necessary supplies.

● Bachelor's degree in a related field such as biology, chemistry, or other biological or physical science.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● None required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● At least one year of experience in a lab required.
