Summary:

The Business Analyst position directly supports UNC Health’s ambulatory care practices including some local onsite practice support. The Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the business community, the Analytics Performance Improvements Collaboratives team and the IT organization in order to provide technical reporting solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing reports to track and measure practice operations, financial metrics and quality performance improvement work.
  • Provides direct onsite support to local UNC Physician Network ambulatory care practices. Some travel to local practices required.
  • Supports other key quality programs toensure compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies such asCMS’s Meaningful Use, Physician Quality Reporting System (MIPS).
  • The position acts as a liaison between our ambulatory care practice business customers, the PQI Department and the Information Services Division to create and implement customer-oriented, cost effective business solutions using SQL, Business Objects and Tableau.
  • The Business Analyst will translate and document high level business requirements into functional reporting specifications to be used to build out reporting solutions in support of programs such as, Value Based Payment, Lean Six Sigma projects, and other quality improvement analytics initiatives.
  • The position will collaborate with the Business, PQI and IT support to provide exemplary customer service to all business units. 
  • May supervise a group of subordinate employees to include selection, training, appraisal, coaching and disciplining in accordance with UNCHCS policies and procedures.
  • Monitors compliance with policies and procedures and makes recommendations for changes as appropriate. Develops and documents procedures.
  • Participates in System-wide initiatives to improve operational efficiencies. May lead Continuous Quality Improvement teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Administration or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
  • If a Bachelor's degree: Two (2) years of experience in professional accounting, management of an operational unit, business analysis or financial analysis.
  • If an Associate's degree: Six (6) years of experience in professional accounting, management of an operational unit, business analysis or financial analysis.
  • If a High School diploma or GED: Ten (10) years of experience in professional accounting, management of an operational unit, business analysis or financial analysis.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care. This is not a State employed position.
