Summary:
The Certified Technician provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
The Certified Technician will assist in ensuring compliance with USP <797> standards within sterile compounding spaces in the UNC Healthcare system. The technician team currently services 14 locations ranging from Chapel Hill (5 within the Medical center and 1 in Eastowne), Pittsboro, Holly Springs, Raleigh (3 locations), Durham, Hillsborough, and Eden. Each location must receive a monthly terminal clean where a sporicidal solution is applied to all surfaces within the space. Each shift ranges between 2-5 hours in duration dependent on staffing and location size. Shifts also vary between weekday evenings and weekend days/evenings. Candidates will participate in at least 2-3 shifts per month, with the option to do more as schedules permit.
Responsibilities:
1. Terminally sterilizes ISO classified cleanrooms.
2. Maintains competencies as dictated by department
3. Assists with training of new employees, educating them in job-specific functions.
4. Contributes to process improvement projects.
5. Completes regulatory compliance inspection of product storage, USP <797> and other regulatory documentation as required.
Other information:
Education Requirements:
● High school diploma or GED. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.·CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
