Operating Room Virtual Hiring Event - Experienced RNs

UNC Medical Center - Chapel Hill, NC

We're hiring experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses (RNs) for our Adult Operating Room, Children's Operating Room, and the Pediatric Congenital Heart Program.

Working with our Operating Room team, you will have close working relationships with departments and a supportive work environment.

Adult Operating Room:

We have a diverse team that demonstrates a positive attitude and culture of teamwork. We have openings for OR RNs in all services: CVTT (Cardiac, Vascular, Thoracic, Transplant), Gen, Gyn, Urol, Robotics, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, OMF, Plastics, Burns, and Dental—with the opportunity for flexible schedules. We are looking for smiling faces, ready to give excellent patient care!


Children's Operating Room: 

Our facility combines advanced technology with compassionate care to our pediatric population. We have dedicated Pediatric Operating Rooms and perform 5,000 cases per year. Our service lines include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, ENT, OMF, burn and urology. UNC is one of the two verified Burn Centers in NC and the only designated Level 1 Trauma in the Triangle.

You can expect to work on complex cases with a drive team of passionate and collegial Operating Room professionals, utilizing the best patient care models. We have the distinguished Magnet designation and that recognizes nurses for their excellence and provide professional growth opportunities.

Since our Operating Rooms are open 24/7, we have a variety of scheduling options with some call required. Our orientation is extensive lasting up to 8 weeks depending on your own experience. 


Pediatric Congenital Heart Program:

The Children’s Heart Center at UNC Medical Center is experiencing rapid growth and has undergone transformative change. Our faculty are dedicated to promoting excellence in all areas of pediatric cardiovascular care and extracorporeal technologies. We are a comprehensive congenital heart care provider offering neonatal heart surgery and single ventricle palliation, surgery for adult congenital heart disease, advanced therapies for heart and lung failure including ECMO, ventricular assist device implantation, and heart & lung transplantation. We are in search of dedicated, experienced, and team-focused providers to join our dynamic group in nursing, perfusion, ECLS, and cardiothoracic surgery.

Qualifications for all:


  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • If hired after January 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years of employment, and obtain a Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • One (1) year of RN experience. Operating Room RN experience required.

*Note: 

  • If interested in the Pediatric Congenital Heart Program, an experienced operating room nurse with pediatric heart experience is highly preferred.
