Job Description

The Emergency Response Team Paramedic primarily works special events providing basic and advanced life support care to event staff, patrons, participants, entertainers, and others. This is a highly visible position that requires outstanding customer service skills. It is essential that the Paramedic is proficient in both BLS and ALS skills.


  1. Maintains and environment of safety for patients, self and others.
  2. Conducts a thorough assessment of the patient’s physical and emotional condition. Determines if additional resources are needed and reports that to appropriate staff.
  3. Develops and implements an individualized care plan and administers appropriate ALS and BLS treatment. Collaborates with other health team members in formulating the plan.
  4. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of, and follows the treatment protocols and pharmaceutical regimen approved by the ERT Medical Director.
  5. Utilizes a team approach in carrying out the care plan by delegation to, and supervision of other health care team members.
  6. Provides education about the patient’s healthcare to the patient and family.
  7. Participates in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
  8. Monitors communication equipment and communicates effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals and family members to ensure relevant information is gathered and appropriate care is given.
  9. Tests and maintains emergency equipment and supplies. Replenishes and/or orders equipment, medications, and supplies utilizing established guidelines.
  10. Maintains attendance standards by working the required number of events, following assigned work hours, and providing proper notifications of attendance variances. Responsible for securing coverage for any shift unable to cover.
  11. Completes annual competencies and requirements accurately and timely. Meets all scheduled deadlines.
  12. Utilizes EMR to thoroughly and completely record the patient demographics, assessment, plan of care, delivery of care, and evaluation of the patient’s response to care.
  13. Utilizes electronic event records to complete and submit timesheet, supply requests, and patient logs.

● High School diploma or GED
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● North Carolina EMT-Paramedic certification or National Equivalent with ability to obtain NC Paramedic within 30 days of hire
● Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) provider certification
● Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) provider certification
● Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Two (2) years of Paramedic experience in a high volume ALS EMS service or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
