The new Office of Professional Service Contracts and Affiliations (OPSCA) is an administrative organization within the School of Medicine and is under the purview of the Vice Dean of Research. Protecting the interest and integrity of the School and the University is an integral part of the OPSCA mission in its efforts to provide a viable administrative service to the School’s clinical departments as well as other administrative units for their professional service contracts and student affiliation agreements. The School of Medicine is the largest single academic unit in the University. The School initiates on average approximately 80% of all contractual activity associated with faculty and or staff services as well as student rotations. It is the only School on campus that has authorization to provide final University signature for professional service contracts and other designated legal documents on behalf of the Dean, the Chancellor’s designated university official for the majority of the School’s contractual agreements. Consistent with SOM’s mission to provide leadership and excellence in the interrelated areas of patient care, education, and research, the Office of Professional Service Contracts and Affiliations performs all administrative, budgetary, legal and regulatory processing of contractual agreements and student affiliation agreements. The Director position oversees the daily operations of the Office and serves as the primary signatory for the School’s contractual agreements . The positions within the OPSCA function as a team to provide administrative services for the School of Medicine. We have approximately $50M in revenue from contracts in the UNC Faculty Practice and this position is integral in our ability to provide professional services across the state as well as provide the educational experience that is needed for all SOM students. The Director manages the office in regular consultation with the Health Care System (HCS) Legal Office and the Office of University Counsel (OUC) to ensure the School of Medicine is current on University requirements affecting contract processing and approval. The School of Medicine is the only entity on campus with a formal process.

Education Requirements:

JD or paralegal preferred; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant undergraduate degree and 5 years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of directly related and progressive experience.
