 Job Summary:

Provide administrative support to the Cancer Tumor Registry.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative – Perform all duties of pathology review for Rapid Case Ascertainment and/or follow up of all reportable cancer cases within the UNC Health Care System according to data standards set by UNC Cancer Registry policy, the Commission on Cancer (CoC), North Carolina Central Cancer Registry (NCCCR), American Joint Committee of Cancer (AJCC), and National Association of Accredited Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR).
  2. Quality – Promotes reliable clinical excellence through consistent and accurate coding and documentation based on data standards set by UNC Cancer Registry policy, CoC, NCCCR, AJCC, and NAACCR. Ensures thoroughness, completeness, quality, timeliness, and compliance according to UNC policy, CoC, NCCCR, AJCC, and NAACCR regulations
  3. Education – Facilitates learning and participates in educational programs to better understand complex rules and regulations, promoting the improvement of documentation and reporting of reportable cancer cases to meet UNC policy, CoC, NCCCR, AJCC, and NAACCR rules and regulation.

  1. Liaison - UNC/Rapid Case Ascertainment - Works diligently to provide pathology report research to Rapid Case Ascertainment as they support North Carolina Central Cancer Registry with facilitating cancer prevention and control research, requiring early contact with patients.

  1. Case finding - Researches Pathology Reports for reportable cases adding them to CRStar for abstracting.

  1. Follow up – Researches available sources to collect and update mortality status.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● One (1) year of clerical or administrative experience.
● If Bachelor's degree, no years of experience is required
● If Associate's degree, no years of experience is required
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

Technical expertise: understands the technical aspects of one’s job. Effectively uses Microsoft office products in order to produce reports and documents. Works to meet the internal/external customer requirements. Fiscal responsibility: Understands the insurance process and seeks to make the best decision/referral in the interest of the customer. Conflict Resolution: Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more people. Finds agreement on issues and follows through on implementation
