Summary:
This position is a strategic product leader with industry vertical expertise in the healthcare and digital sectors to guide and grow its healthcare innovation team. This leader will leverage their entrepreneurial and innovative passion to drive new approaches to maximizing patient outcomes, improving customer experience and creating new enterprise revenue. They will establish new product credibility and partner with UNC Health physician leaders, external investors and top talent at a national level.

Responsibilities:

Operations: Sets the vision for new companies and define the overall strategy from launch to scale to include: driving growth, profitability and company value. Drives alignment around a multi-year investment and product strategy for key focus areas (e.g., pharmacy, digital health, diagnostic/lab solutions). Defines product vision including all aspects of future roadmap, investment, innovation and experimentation. Serves as a leader to ensure initiatives achieve scale necessary for successful transition into an existing business or new entity. Develops a pipeline of client innovation partners and lead sales and delivery of early solution pilots in search of product-market fit. Collaborates with existing business leaders to set vision and strategy for “white space” businesses and cross business unit growth opportunities. Oversees teams to source, lead and develop new product initiatives, including scoping inquiries, market research, analysis, testing, key metrics and competitive landscape to justify investment. Evaluates internal capabilities and external opportunities (build, partner, invest) based on qualitative, quantitative and financial metrics. Advises internal clients on business strategy, operational effectiveness and digital healthcare best practices. Provides subject matter expertise to other UNC Health business units as it relates to strategic planning and execution of new businesses and products. Manages competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of the financial structure, capital strategy and strategic objectives. Builds a comprehensive ecosystem that connects corporate, industry and innovation partners broadly across the UNC Health, Chapel Hill, Raleigh-Durham, and general region’s community based on interest and opportunity. Reports updates to corporate stakeholders regarding progress on strategic goals.

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

● Requires a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline.

Professional Experience Requirements:

● Requires a minimum of ten years of related entrepreneurship, venture and/or M&A experience, with at least seven years of management experience. Healthcare experience strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
●  Uses cost-benefit thinking to set priorities, monitors expenditures in support of programs and policies

● Demonstrated expertise in the development of trusting relationships and partnerships.
