Summary: The PBM Business Development and Sales Leader is an individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who will lay the foundation for the achievement of all business development related activity. They will be responsible for developing the sales strategy including establishing broker relationships and networking with local employer and industry groups to create excitement and position the business for success. The Business Development & Sales Leader will be responsible for development of sales leads, contract negotiations, and closing deals.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a growth strategy to build partnerships and revenue for small to mid-size employers in North Carolina.
  •  Engage with broker community and form relationships with those that align with the business's strategy and culture
  • Achieve annual revenue targets for bringing on new clients
  • Design, build, scale and manage our ‘top of the funnel discovery’ pipeline and process for identifying and evaluating new customers. Be a key leader and champion of this pipeline with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Test and implement approaches for bringing a breadth of ecosystem insights, expertise and inspiration into the pipeline and concepts that we are exploring (e.g., Direct-To-Employer, brokers, ecosystem advisory groups, tap into UNC Health executive leadership and local entrepreneur/employer community).
  • Devise and validate go-to-market strategies for different business ideas.
  • Lead and coordinate the process for all RFPs Including facilitating all meetings with prospective customers. Create and organize client communications including business models, presentations, and other assets.
  • Support development of marketing materials and client/broker agreements.
  • Monitor market conditions and keep the team abreast of market dynamics and competitive landscape.
  • Build strong relationships with clients while providing proactive strategic support.
  • Manage relationships with existing customers and act as a liaison to address client issues and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • As business grows, recruit and lead a small team of sales representatives to support sales process.

● Requires Bachelor's degree in relevant degree
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Requires ten (10) years of verifiable PBM or health plan sales experience

Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

●Strong strategic thinker with ability to bring structure and simplicity to chaos and tackle problem solving in a structured yet rapid fashion. Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership and clear direction to large, cross-functional and vendor teams. Preference is for PBM experience with a successful sales record to self-funded employers. Previous experience leading small sales team a plus. Must demonstrate ability to communicate in a professional manner both inwriting and through verbal presentation.
