Summary:
Responsible for the management of nurse anesthesia services in collaboration with departments of anesthesia, surgery, and nursing administration. Assumes responsibility for safe and proper operation and quality control of equipment, techniques, and procedures and analyzes and evaluates activities to assure established quality patient care. May provide clinical services as a nurse anesthetist and administer various types of anesthesia, provide therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, and share on-call responsibilities with anesthesia staff.
Responsibilities:

4. Anesthesiology Department Duties- Coordinates purchasing of supplies and equipment and maximizes efficient utilization. Contributes to planning goals and objectives for the department and assists chair in coordination of activities and programs. Develops and maintains quality improvement programs for anesthesia in cooperation with hospital programs. Maintains compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
5. Nurse Anesthetist- Performs all aspects of clinical anesthesia administration as scheduled.
6. Scheduling- Responsible for work schedules and assignments, on-call arrangements, and emergency changes in cooperation with staff. Develops productivity goals and measurements.

Education Requirements:
● Completion of a Nurse Anesthesia program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
● Certified or eligible for certification by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetist.
● Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Professional Experience Requirements:
● Five (5) years of experience as a Nurse Anesthetist in a large tertiary care medical center or teaching institution.
