Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Incentive Program

Eligibility:

  • RN Clinical Nurse II, III, IV and RN Clinical Nurse II OR, III OR, IV OR positions within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC); must have 12 months or more of RN experience.
  • Nursing Assistant I, Nursing Assistant II, Clinical Support Tech I, Clinical Support Tech II, and Sterile Processing Technician positions within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
  • RN Clinical Nurse I, Nurse supervisor, and Nursing leadership positions may only qualify for relocation assistance.
  • Full-time appointment that requires scheduled work of 36 hours or more per week.
  • Not currently permanently employed or employed within the previous 12 months at any UNC Health System-owned entity. Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) per diem and traveler/contract staff are eligible if converting to full-time (36 + hrs/wk) status.
  • Teammate must remain in good standing throughout their commitment period. If a teammate receives a final written warning, the incentive will be discontinued.

Commitment Incentive and Tuition Loan Expectations:

  • Teammate must be in active status at the time of installment payment; otherwise, the payment will be canceled. The remaining installment payments may resume upon the teammates return to active status.
  • The work commitment is to the department where initially hired (Ambulatory Surgery Center - ASC).

RN Incentive Options:

  • Tuition Loan Forgiveness* - Up to $25,000 may be offered to defray the cost of tuition to obtain an already earned pre-licensure nursing degree. The amount offered is based on proof of outstanding loan. Payment is spread over three (3) year period in six (6) installments. Payment is made after each six (6) month period of work is completed. Effective: 12/7/2022. Eligible units will periodically be re-evaluated to determine the discontinuation date. 
  • Commitment Incentive* - $20,000 paid over four (4) years or $15,000 paid over three (3) years. Payment is spread over a three (3) to four (4) year period in six (6) to eight (8) installments. Payment of $2,500 is made after each six (6) month period of work completed. Effective: 12/7/2022. Eligible units will periodically be re-evaluated to determine the discontinuation date. 
  • Relocation Assistance - may be offered for RN positions. Questions should be directed to your recruiter.
  • Employee Referrals - Current teammate will receive $3,000 for referring a qualified, hired RN candidate. Payment is made in two equal installments. First 6 months after new hire start date and second at one-year completion. 

*Commitment Incentive and Tuition Loan Forgiveness are not offered in combination.

Support (Nursing Assistant I & II, Clinical Support Tech I & II, and Sterile Processing Tech) Incentive Options:
  • Commitment Incentive* -   Up to $5,000 may be offered to these roles. Payment is spread over a three (3) year period in six (6) installments. Payment of $833.33 is made after each six (6) month period of work completed. Effective: 12/7/2022. Eligible positions will periodically be re-evaluated to determine the discontinuation date.
  • Employee Referrals - Current teammates will receive $1,000 for referring a qualified, hired candidate. Payment is made in two equal installments. First 6 months after new hire start date and second at one-year completion. 

Surgical Tech Incentive Options:

 

  • Commitment Incentive* -   Candidates must have at least 1 year of prior experience as a Surgical Technologist. Up to $10,000 may be offered to these roles. Payment is spread over a three (3) year period in six (6) installments. Payment  is made after each six (6) month period of work completed. Effective: 2/19/2023. Eligible positions will periodically be re-evaluated to determine the discontinuation date.
  • Employee Referrals - Current teammates will receive $3,000 for referring a qualified, hired candidate. Payment is made in two equal installments. First 6 months after new hire start date and second at one-year completion. 

**UNC Health teammates are not eligible for recruitment incentives when going from one owned entity to another.
