Rex New Grad RN Incentive Program

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • RN Clinical Nurse I 
  • Employed full-time, scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week
  • Employed in a direct patient care RN position
  • Clinical Areas: Rex Hospital and Rex Holly Springs Hospital- Inpatient (see * below), Surgical/OR, Procedural (see * below)
  • Not currently employed or employed within the previous 12 months at any UNC Health Care System owned entity.  Rex Hospital or Rex Holly Springs Hospital Nursing Assistant, Clinical Support Tech’s, Surgical Tech’s or Externs that transfer to a full-time Rex Hospital or Rex Holly Springs Hospital position, will be eligible for the commitment incentive options in approved areas.
  • Employee must remain in good standing throughout their commitment period. If an employee receives a final written warning, the incentive will be discontinued.
  • Candidate must choose either Tuition Loan Forgiveness OR Commitment incentive, they cannot receive both.
  • UNC Rex per diem and traveler/contract staff that transfer to a full-time UNC Rex or Holly Springs position (30 + hours per week) will be eligible for the full commitment incentive options in approved areas.

 

Incentive Expectations:

  • Employee must be in active status at the time of installment payment; otherwise, the payment will be cancelled. Remaining installment payments may resume upon the employees return to active status.
  • The work commitment is to the organization where initially hired.
  • Employee may be allowed to transfer and maintain the incentive if the receiving department is eligible and approved by the accepting manager / director.

 

Tuition Loan Assistance - Up to $25,000 may be offered to New Graduate Nursing students earning an Associates, Bachelors or Masters nursing degree RN hired for a New Grad RN position. The amount offered is based on proof of outstanding loan. Payment is spread over three (3) year period in three (3) installments. Payment is made after each tweleve (12)  month period of work is completed.

    • Effective for hires graduating May 2022 or after
    • Ends – TBD to be re-evaluated by administration
    • *Eligible Departments:  Intermediate Care (6HV,7HV,8HV), Infusion Oncology, Emergency Department, 3 Women’s, LDOR, NICU, Surgery Services (6E,6W,7E,7W), Medicine & Short Stay(3E,3W,4E,4W,5E,5W), Critical Care(MSICU,CICU,CSICU,NSICU), H&V Procedural (IR, H&V Admin, Radiology Support, H&V diagnostics) & Cath Lab, SRT. Holly Springs Hospital- ED, Med-Surg, Women’s, Surgical Services, Procedural.

 

Commitment Incentive – $10,000 may be offered to New Graduate Nursing students earning an Associates, Bachelors or Masters nursing degree RN hired for a New Grad RN position. Payment is spread over a 2 year period in 2 installments. Payment is made after each 12 month period of work is completed.

    • Effective for offers with start dates May 2023 or after
    • Ends – TBD to be re-evaluated by administration
    • *Eligible Departments:  Surgery Services (6E,6W,7E,7W), Medicine & Short Stay(3E,3W,4E,4W,5E,5W) and Holly Springs Med/Surg departments (5BT, 6BT and Short Stay)
    • RN must remain in a Med Surg or an Intermediate Care unit where hired for 18 months; following 18 months RN may transfer to another inpatient, specialty or procedural nursing area within Rex for remainder of two year commitment period.
