UNC Hospitals & UNC REX Healthcare - Nursing Support Incentive Program

*Commitment incentive effective for offers extended November 22, 2021, and after. Candidates must be hired in a qualifying Nursing Assistant, Clinical Support Technician or Behavioral Health Technician position at UNC Hospitals (Main Campus, Hillsborough or WakeBrook) or UNC REX Healthcare (Rex main hospital, Rex Holly Springs hospital, and Raleigh/Apex Rehab and Nursing Centers). This program will be periodically reviewed for a discontinuation date. There is no discontinuation date at this time. 

Eligible positions:

  • Nursing Assistant I
  • Nursing Assistant II
  • Clinical Support Technician I
  • Clinical Support Technician II
  • Behavioral Health Technician 

Eligibility and Program Guidelines:

  • Full-time position that requires scheduled work for 36 hours or more per week. 
  • Not currently employed, or employed within the previous twelve (12) months at any UNC Health system owned entity. UNC Hospitals and UNC REX Healthcare per diem and traveler/contract staff are eligible if converting to full-time (36+ hours per week) status.  
  • Employees must remain in good standing throughout the work commitment period.  If the employee receives a final written warning, demotion, resigns, or is terminated, the incentive will be discontinued and all remaining scheduled payments will be discontinued.
  • The employee must be in active status at the time of installment payment; otherwise, the payment will be discontinued. The remaining installment payments may resume upon the employees return to active status.
  • The work commitment must be fulfilled in the department where the employee is initially hired.

Payout Amount:

  • $5,000 for a three (3) year commitment.  

Payout Details and Schedule:

  • Equal payments will be made every six (6) months from the start date during the three (3) year commitment.
