Medical Assistant, Certified Incentive Program

UNC Medical Center, UNC Faculty Physician clinics, UNC Physicians Network (Triangle), and UNC Health Rex clinics (including Rex Urgent Care).

Commitment Incentive

Details:

  • UNC Medical Center and UNC Faculty Physician Clinics, effective to those with a start date of July 1, 2019, and after.
  • UNC Physicians Network (Triangle) is effective to those with a start date of July 1, 2021, and after.
  • UNC Rex is effective to those with a start date of January 24, 2022, and after. UNC Rex Urgent Care is effective to those with a start date of February 19, 2024 and after.
  • $5,000 to full-time Medical Assistant, Certified (Level I, II, and III) with UNC Medical Center, UNC Faculty Physician clinics, UNC Physicians Network (Triangle), and UNC Rex clinics (including Rex Urgent Care).
  • For UNC Medical Center, UNC Faculty Physician clinics, UNC Physicians Network (Triangle), commitment incentive will be paid over a three-year period in three (3) equal installments (12 months, 24 months, and 36 months). Payment will be treated as taxable income and directly deposited in your paycheck.
  • For UNC Health Rex (including Rex Urgent Care), commitment incentive will be paid over a two (2) year period in three (3) equal installments (6 months, 12 months, and 24 months). Payment will be treated as taxable income and directly deposited in your paycheck. (*Note for UNC Health Rex commitment period and payout schedule, the above listed is a change effective on Rex job offers made September 5, 2023 and after.)
  • Be hired as a Medical Assistant, Certified I, II, or III.
  • Be employed, and continue to work, in a regular full-time qualifying Medical Assistant, Certified position (Full-time is 36 hours or more per week).
  • ​Not be currently employed, or employed within the previous 12 months, at another owned entity within the UNC Health system in a Medical Assistant, Certifed position.
  • Not be currently employed as a per diem, traveler, or contract staff at any owned entity within UNC Health system in a Medical Assistant, Certifed position.
  • Remain in good standing throughout the work commitment period. If the employee receives a final written warning, resigns or is terminated, the incentive will be discontinued.
  • Be inactive status at the time the installment payment is payable; otherwise, the payment will be canceled (and not paid on any future date). The remaining installment payments will be paid if the employee returns to active status, as long as the employee meets all other eligibility requirements.
  • Remain in the department where they initially hired.

*UNC Health employees are not eligible for recruitment incentives when going from one owned entity to another.
