UNC Health REX Surgical Tech Incentive Program

Incentives are applicable to UNC Health Rex and UNC Rex Holly Springs Hospital.

Eligibility Requirement:

  • Surgical Tech and Senior Surgical Tech roles
  • Employed full-time, scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week
  • Employed in a direct patient care Surgical Tech or Senior Surgical Tech position
  • Clinical Areas: Rex & Holly Springs Hospitals (OR East, OR West, ASC, HS OR, LDOR and CVOR)
  • Not currently employed or employed within the previous 12 months at any UNC Health Care system owned entity. *Current or past traveler’s eligible for incentive options even if they worked in the previous 12 months.
  • Employee must remain in good standing throughout their commitment period. If an employee receives a final written warning, the incentive will be discontinued.
  • UNC Rex Per Diem staff that transfer to a full-time UNC Health Rex or Rex Holly Springs position, will be eligible for the commitment incentive options in approved areas.
  • Teammate must be in active status at the time of their commitment work-through date; otherwise, the payment will be cancelled. Remaining installment payments may resume upon the teammate’s return to active status. Active is defined as a teammate who is actively working or receiving Paid Time Off.
  • The work commitment is to the organization where initially hired.
  • Employee may be allowed to transfer and maintain the incentive if the receiving department is eligible and approved by the accepting manager/director.

Incentive Options:

  • Commitment Incentive – Option 1: $10,000 spread over a two (2) year period paid in three equal payments after the teammate's six (6) month, twelve (12) month, and twenty-four (24) month work-through dates.  Option 2: $15,000 spread over a three (3) year period paid three equal payments after the teammate's twelve (12) month, twenty-four (24) month, and thirty-six month work-through dates. (Update to job offers made on September 5, 2023, and after.)
  • Employee Referrals - Current employees will receive $3,000 for referring a qualified hired Surgical Tech and Senior Surg Tech candidate. Payment is made in two equal installments. First six months after the new hire's start date and the second at one year of completion.
  • Relocation assistance may be offered for Surgical Tech and Senior Surgical Tech positions. Questions should be directed to your recruiter.

*UNC Health employees are not eligible for recruitment incentives when going from one UNC Health-owned entity to another.
